Site Update: Server Switcheroo!

So… whoa.

If anyone has visited my site in the last week, you might have noticed that it was sporadically offline or was giving error messages.

Sorry about that!

Due to situations beyond mine or my web host’s control, I am being switched to a new server (my old one was… well… too old?) and where I believe 99.9% of everything has switched over just fine, there might be a hiccup or three here and there as everything else gets sorted out and finalized.

I apologize for any difficulties or inconveniences anyone might experience between then and now and if any new developments should pop up, I’ll will let you know!

Hopefully everything will finish settling soon!

Site Update: Change Up Time!

Hey Everyone,

I rethought out some ideas on site structuring and I have decided to post all site updates on this portion of the Emotiomental Graffiti website rather than in the blog.

This will help maintain cohesiveness and continuity throughout the website(s) and the decision just makes more logical sense to me.

Originally, I had considered posting all of my site updates in the blog because this portion of the Emotiomental Graffiti website was more like a jump page/splash page for the rest of the website and that the site update posts would look out of place here.

However, after watching this portion of the website grow with content, I realized that my concerns were/are unfounded and after a bit of structural and content reorganization, I have moved my updates to the main site.

There might be a bit more minor reorganization going on for a while as I work out the exact filing/categorizing hierarchy that I am going to use, but for the most part, the restructuring is complete.

Cheers!

Hey Everyone,

The main portion of the Emotiomental Graffiti website is just about ready to ‘officially’ go live!

When the site goes live, all of the main content will be posted and ready for viewing and the blog will be geared up and ready to go and ready to be posted on.

The portfolio and storefront will remain closed for the time being and will be opened in a future update.

Thanks for your interest,

~ EMG

  • Site Update: Website Loading Issues March 6, 2010
After installing Google Analytics to my website and blog site… I started noticing some strange layout loading problems on my sites. Namely, these problems specifically involve my entire site loading approximately 25 to 50px vertically lower than it should. The topbar main navigation should be hugging the top, right? And before I installed Google Analytics […]

  • Site Update: RSS Feed Content Going Wonky July 5, 2009
WTF, My RSS feed blocks (which happen to feed in content – update posts in particular – from each of my respective posting categories) are apparently all messed up. In particular, my RSS feed block for my blog updates is messed up. Instead of showing three posts from my Blog Updates category, it’s showing the last three [...] […]

  • Blog Update: AddThis Angst July 19, 2009
So uhmmm… whooops? The newer version of the WordPress-specific AddThis coding (the one you can manually add to your posts that uses the php echo?) does NOT validate through W3C. It WORKS, but because of the ampersand and perhaps something else, W3C is going bonkers over it, offering up anywhere between 5 to 9 errors [...] […]

Hey there yet again! This is the last update for today, I promise. As you can well guess, the Storefront part of the website is not yet open for business. The Storefront will be the last part of the Emotiomental Graffiti website to open (I intend to have the main section, blog, and portfolio all up and ready [...] […]

  Web Hosting

  • There are a lot of webhosts out there and I've given a few of them a run for their services (while they've given me a run for my money) and after all this time... Dreamhost wins my vote. The price is right, the package has everything I need, the CPanel has everything right at my fingertips, there's Fantastico's One-Click Installs (you can still do everything manually if you want), but most importantly, their customer support for me has been nothing short of OUTSTANDING. Add to the fact that Dreamhost is also now green? That's pretty damned awesome. Go visit them yourself or read my full review for more information.

  Web Applications

  • WordPress has come a long way, baby, and boy how it's grown! From the ability to create fully-customized static pages to the ability to customize the hell out of your post display Loop to the ability to change themes like a chameleon to all the plugins that are available for your WordPress-enhancing pleasure, WordPress has a lot going for it and to top it all off, it's open source and free to use! Perfect for bloggers, online journalists, writers, artists, and people in general like you who have something to say and who want to say it THEIR way, WordPress is the platform where ideas, thoughts, and experiences are presented in the way they were meant to be - in YOUR voice and with YOUR style.
